Burning Man 2007 Movie Screenings

Wow, a schedule of sorts! Can you believe it? Surprisingly; yes you can. There were four or more nightly "theme" titles scheduled for Monday thru Friday, and I'm happy to say most of these were making their first appearance at BIT. After the theme list was out of the way, we just threw on just any old thing.

I'm mostly listing movies by the night you might have seen them, but my notes are sorta messy so this should be considered "best effort". The text in quotes is the description used in the Playa Events Calendar, which by the way I now confess that the schedule came about mostly in order to have something to put on the calendar.

"Bizarro World Theater"
"Meet the Bizarro World twins of movies you know and love. Turkish Young Frankenstein, anyone? Would you believe the straight-faced version of "Airplane!"? We'll toss in a dopey William Castle gimmick movie too. Starts around sundown."

Zero Hour! (1957) - This movie is the straight-man doppleganger of "Airplane!". Recommended for audiences who are both very familiar with the jokes in "Airplane!" and have liquor handy.

13 Ghosts (1960) - Presented in William Castle's screen miracle process (i.e.; gimmick) "Illusion-O"! Genuine reproduction (i.e.; crap) Ghost Viewers were distributed amongst the audience!
Turkish Young Frankenstein (1975)

H.G. Wells' The Shape of Things to Come (1979) - This stinky turd has nothing in common with the 1936 classic or anything ever written by Wells, aside from one character's name. Pure 70s schlock.

If Footmen Tire You, What Will Horses Do? (1971) - The christian scare film from hell. Astounding.
What To Do in a Zombie Attack (2006) [short]
Red Planet Mars (1952) - Peter Graves and psycho wife in a three-way battle of christianity, communism, and ex-Nazis. With special guest Jesus of Mars. Awesome.
Red Nightmare (1962) - Jack Webb narrates what amounts to the "it's a wonderful life" of anti-commie films.
The Grim Reaper (1976) - From the same director of "If Footmen Tire you..."

Saturday

"Open before, during, and after the burn. Just because."

Idiocracy (2006) - This movie is off-theme for our camp. We always put something good on during the burn just for the skeleton crew to watch. But it turns out there were a handful of folks hanging with us so that was fun.
Corey Haim: Me, Myself and I (1989) - Yeah, again. It was just that good/bad.
